FreshChoice Kepler Challenge gear sale 2016

This year the gear sale will have several brands on sale. FreshChoice are giving away fresh fruit to keep runners energised while Montane, RAB and Fiordland House will have gear on sale.

Fiordland House will still be running the gear deal for Rab thermals, hats and gloves and Lowe Alpine jackets and pants - so get all your compulsory gear updated before check-in!

Montane are bringing a selection of their gear down too so some great deals are sure to be had.

$20,000 2016 Trust Fund

$20,000 2016 Trust Fund

As in 2015, the Kepler Challenge Mountain Run Trust wishes to donate up to $20,000 to local events or projects.  In 2015, the full amount of $20,000 was donated to the Fiordland Trails Trust to assist in completion of stage one of their Te Anau to Manapouri cycle trail.

We've got together a pack for runners needing the thermal aspect of the compulsory gear.

Smartwool beanie

The pack includes:

  • 1 lightweight 195gm long sleeve crew neck top
  • 1 pair 195gm leggings
  • 1 beanie
  • 1 pair of liner gloves

 

All these are approved items and can be used for compulsory gear. Colour options are black for everything but we may be able to supply coloured beanies depending on stock.

1. Introduction

2012 - the 25th Kepler Challenge Mountain Run. For 25 years runners have been trucking into Te Anau, set to take up the ultimate challenge.

The pre race briefing left some runners perplexed. The DOC representative said if you are attacked by a falcon put your arms on your head – it will stop the falcon taking your head off. Unfortunately he didn’t explain why the loss of your arms would be any better!

Armstrong wins 2012 ASICS Kepler Challenge for third time

Vajin Armstrong, 32, from Christchurch has won the 2012 ASICS Kepler Challenge today in a time of 4.55.24 on the challenging 60km mountain terrain course on a cool, windy day.

Beating an extended field of 480 runners, Armstrong led from the Forest Burn shelter, overtaking Martin Cox after the Luxmore Hut. Cox from Leicester, England, was first up the hill, in 1.07.04, winning the King of the Mountain title this year.
