Event Overview

Conceived in 1988, the Kepler Challenge has grown to become New Zealand’s iconic mountain run. On the first Saturday in December, Te Anau is transformed into the mountain run capital of New Zealand as runners and their supporters descend on the town. With the whole community backing the event, there is a real buzz in the town. This unique atmosphere makes the weekend special for everyone taking part. Perhaps that’s why so many runners return year after year to complete another challenge – Yes the Kepler Challenge can become addictive!

Whichever event you choose please be aware that places are limited and competition for a place in the event is fierce. People come from far and wide to complete their own challenge on the Kepler Track. Many even travel to New Zealand specially for the event. Whether you are an elite runner or a social runner, the community will cheer you on to complete your challenge.
